Covering Live at Ghana’s Independence Day

At Security Watch Africa, we go beyond reporting on security—we capture history, culture, and the spirit of the African people. On March 6th, our team was honored to witness and cover the grand celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day at the iconic Black Star Square in Accra.

Also known as Independence Square, this historic landmark is bordered by the Accra Sports Stadium and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. It stands as the second-largest city square in the world after Tiananmen Square in China, with a seating capacity of 30,000. Commissioned by President Kwame Nkrumah in 1961 to honor the visit of Queen Elizabeth II, the square remains a symbol of Ghana’s pride, freedom, and resilience.

As we joined thousands of dignitaries, citizens, and international guests in celebration, our coverage reinforced our commitment to bringing Africans closer to the moments that define our collective heritage.

📡 Security Watch Africa is available to cover major national events, state occasions, and special gatherings across the continent—from independence anniversaries to high-level conferences. Our experienced team ensures that these landmark occasions are documented with accuracy, professionalism, and depth.
